Hey, I develop the NowPlaying widget for MacOS Tiger and due to certain current software releases, I'm ready to release a new version with some new features I'm sure people want :) but I've heard that Series 2 TiVos aren't working with the widget. Can anyone confirm this? The widget is located here:
http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/details.php?wid=281
And if there is a problem, they could send me their TiVo's XML file I would be greatyl appreciated. If you try and use the widget and it has a problem, find the widget in ~/Library/Widgets/, control-click on it, choose "Show package contents" and send the tivo.xml files inside to jazzflute at gmail-dot-com.
Thanks!

It may help. Take what ever you want from it.

Thanks, do you have a series 2 XML file I could have? I'm good on the programming end, I just need to test an S2 XML file.

If you using a Tivo that has TivoWeb or TivoWebPlus installed, then this Yahoo/Konfabulator widget works great on a PC or Mac OzTivo Widget (http://www.widgetgallery.com/view.php?widget=39525)

I'm able to download from both my Series 2 Tivos using the widget without any problems. My Tivos are a couple of years apart too. I have heard other people saying that it doesn't work for them. I'm using a G5, so maybe its the people with Intel Macs that are having problems. BTW, the widget still says 2.0 acroos the top.

John,
Same thing as Rosincrans– Sees both of my TiVos (two Series 2s 140…) and downloads fine. Still says 2.0 across the top. Please tell me you are going to add the conversion or make this a freestanding app similar to TiVo Decode Manager

Maybe i'm missing something - I put it in my dashboard but I can't input my MAK or IP or anything - none of the fields let me click in them and type. OS X 10.4.8, PowerMac G5

It seems to work fine with my Series 2 DT and my Mac G4, OS 10.4.8.

Not able to minimize the window like the older version. I can't use it without this option, because the full window takes up too much space.

Okay, please forgive my ignorance here.... When I downloaded the new version (thank you!) and checked on the back, it asks me to drop Tivodecoder into the NowPlaying widget package. I have Tivodecoder installed on my desktop, I've been using it prior to this new development. But how specifically do I drop it into the NowPlaying widget package (and where is that)?
ETA: Now that I've checked on the widget, I also notice that it allows me to see the shows on my TiVo, but there is no longer a download option.

You are confusing Tivodecode with Tivo decoder. decode is a file, decoder is an applescript.
1-Right (control) click on Tivo decoder, and select Show Package Contents
a window will open with a folder called Contents
2-open contents, then resources then objects
3-You will see a file called Tivodecode, right click and select Copy "tivodecode"
4-Close all the windows you just opened
5-Locate your NowPlaying.wgt in users/library/widget
6-Right click NowPlaying, and select Show Package Contents
7-A window will open, Select edit, paste item. The window should now have tivodecode in it.
8-Close all windows and your done.
In NowPlaying widget, you have to click on a show to see the download button.
Thanks funkdaddy ! I have:
2 S2 Tivos
1 wireless connection
1 wired
2002 Quicksilver G4
and NO problems with NowPlaying 2.5
Good work ! ! !

Thank you for the instructions. I will have to try that out. However, the widget download button still doesn't appear. I had the previous versions of this widget before and have used them successfully, but on this one, clicking on the shows just toggles between title view and description view. No download button.

Install the tivodecode file, as described above to enable the downlad button.
I just removed mine and tried it, no dowload button.
reinstalled tivodecode, and restarted widget, and the download button came back.

Hi guys! I installed the program using Macrob's directions, which worked well. I attempted to download a show from the Tivo, but it finishes downloading in less than 1 second, then there is a quicktime error saying "error opening movie." Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

It's not downloading. It should take at least slightly longer than your show.
On mine it's:
30 minutes = 40-50 minute download
60 minutes = 75-80 minute download
120 minutes = 145-155 minute download
Are you using a wireless connection? Many times you will lose the connection if you are.
Lastly, Quicktime will not play Tivo files, because it is an uncompatible mpeg format. You have to use VLC, or convert the file first.
