I recently bought a Series 3 and transferred my lifetime to it.

I am giving my brother my old Series 2 TiVo with the 1-year pre-paid subscription.

Is there anything in particular that he should know when it comes to setting up and using the TiVo at his place? Will he just go through the Guided Setup once he hooks it up, and everything else will fall into place?

Thanks!

Just don't tell TiVo Inc. The one year service is non-transferable. He'll have to use your account to things like online scheduling.

What are the risks of giving such a TiVo to a friend or family member? I suppose the renewal of the contract at the end of the free year is automatically billed to the credit card on account. Anything else? Could the recipient go on a spending spree at TiVo.com or something?

In short, just how much do I have to trust the recipient? My S2 is sitting in a closet, unused, except when I try new features like TiVoCast and Guru Guides.
