I just got my S3 hooked up yesterday & the Charter guy is coming in about 20 minutes.

I'll be transferring my lifetime but thought I would wait until everything checks out.

The other thing is that I'll be going on vacation next week so I'm thinking of transferring the lifetime when I get back which brings up the question:

Are there any issues with letting the demo time period (one week IIRC) run out other than losing shows or season passes?

I'm not certain, but I wouldn't take a chance. CC install can be easy, difficult, or in some cases darn near impossible. Anyway, what difference does 1 week make on when you start your activation in the long term? I'd activate it. Why have them install then activate and find out something is wrong with CC because you didn't activate on time?

Can you just use a S3 in VCR mode; that is, time/channel only recordings, no guide data?

I let the demo run out on my S3 and got nag messages and could only view live TV. No new guide data comes until it is activated and I had no problem transferring LT.

I think my main concern is making sure everything works before I do the Xfer, less hassle if I need to return the box.

I think I'll just turn the power off to my wireless router & TiVo box when I go on vacation and do the LT Xfer before I power everything up again (do they take calls on weekends?).
