Tried to search..... so I'll just ask directly.

Pulled an HR10-250 out of storage the other day. It's hacked by PTVupgrade with 2 drives. Hooked it up to a phoneline and dialed in. Downloaded for 2+ hours, getting 6.whatvever I surmised. Finished, said pending restart.....

On restart, goes to the PTV upgrade screen and continues on to load 3.1 again. So I call again, short download, says pending restart.... but again, it just boots into 3.1....

Why won't it upgrade?

A hacked drive makes it so the software will NOT upgrade itself. Check in the Underground forum to look at changing that configuration file or use the Slicer to upgrade your TiVo.

I was always warned not to leave the phone line hooked up on a hacked box because it would update itself. Now that I want it to... it wont.

When you install the PTVnetHD upgrade there is an option during the install to block updates. This allows you to leave your phone line plugged in so caller ID etc. will keep working. Most likely you said "yes" at that step of the install.
