Since the 6.3a upgrade our HR10-250 has also been locking up more than once a day. It has rebooted itself while watching a recorded show. Of course, DirecTV thinks I'm nuts and that this is hardware related and refusing to help.

The unit is well ventilated and I even stuck a fan near the unit to ensure it was getting good airflow. I replaced the hardrive (through Tivo Community Forum) with the same drive. It appeared to run fine for a day or two. Now I'm back to the same locking up and freezing. We have not yet added anything to the "To-Do". So... am I looking at an issue with 6.3 or a different hardware issue (system board?). I do NOT want to buy the DirecTV version.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've spent nearly two days reading through these forums and have followed a lot of the instructions (reseating my card etc).

Have you actually checked the temperature on the System Information screen?

You can do a hard drive replacement yourself. Check the underground forum for those details.

Does the unit reboot at the same point during the recorded show? If so, you've probably got a bad spot on the harddrive.

Also, when you replaced the drive, was it a clean install or did you copy your shows from the old drive?

What is it with all of the bad advice? There have been a whole spat of lockups and reboots since the 6.3a software came out. i even replaced my drive thinking it was going bad and had the exact same problem. I reimaged it back to 3.1.5f and have not had a single reboot or lockup since.

yes, the temperature is actually low.. and, we don't have any new shows added to the "to do list"... basically we've had the unit on with no shows recorded and nothing scheduled to record. i did record one "live" show yesterday..

I phoned DirecTV and finally spoke to a Supervisor in "Account Retention" who indicated I was the 4th call so far today for the same reason. He admitted something is wrong and that he'd forward yet another ticket to tech support. He then offered me a free HR20-700.

Not sure what to do.
