Well, not counting today, the NO Saints are doing pretty well this year. I have 7 of thier games recorded on my HR10-250. I want to archive these to DVD.

I am not looking to hack my system in any way, shape, or form. I know nothing of Linux and have neither the time, nor prior expertise to start. I'm perfectly happy with it just the way it is. I've read the FAQs and done a search and came up empty.

I'm looking at a Panasonic DRM2001G DVD Recorder as a replacement for the old VCR.

Here's my setup. HR10-250 into an Onkyo SR607 Receiver into a Panasonic TV.

The SR607 has "Video One" which is for a VCR. However its just analog sound and composite and S Video.

With that limitation I connected the component video Monitor Out from the receiver to the DVDR and did a pass thru to the TV. With the DVDR off, it passes though the 1080i signal just fine. With it on, it will only accept 480i, but that still looks better than composite.

The problem is I am not getting any sound on the recordings. I've still got the analog audio hooked up but its just not working.

Finally to the questions... Has anyone found a good DVD Recorder that will interface with the HD Tivo? I'm not sold on the Panasonic that I bought and can easily return it.

Am I doing something completely wrong? There is no digital audio input for the DVDR, just outputs.

Is there some other option that I'm not aware of?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There may be a DVD recorder that accepts 1080i component and optical, but it will be expensive (think DVD-HD or Blu-Ray). So you are left with what you have. My old Philips DVDR985 had component inputs, but would only accept 480i signal.

Do you have the analog audio out from the HR10 directly to the DVDR?
I'm guessing you can't put a receiver between, then you mess up the line level the DVDR is looking for.

How are you monitoring if you have audio to the DVDR?

No the audio is looped through the receiver as it would be for VCR connection. It passes though analog audio to the Video 1 connection whenever any other source is selected. This is routine for the "VCR" Video 1 connections on many receivers.

I got fed up and returned the Pany DVDR and now I'm looking for a more robust model.

One thing to consider. By having your AV receiver in the loop for archiving from TiVo to DVDR your AV receiver isn't available to be used for anything else. Therefore, I use the second set of outputs to my DVDR. This way I can archive from one TiVo and still use the AV receiver to watch the other one.
