Will software update automatically upon activation?

I deactivated my HR10-250 just before the 6.3 upgrade, when I got my HR20. I am now selling it to someone. If they want to keep the old software until all the issues are worked out, can they plug in the phone line to activate the unit with Directv, and then just unplug the phone line without updating?

Or will the newest software version automatically update when activating the unit?

Why do you think it has to be plugged into a phone to activate? :confused: :confused:
If it's a unit that was already activated, an initial call is not necessary, so NO phone line is needed.

No, not until it makes a call to Tivo. ;)
FYI, you CAN have the software updated w/out it actually being activated by D*.

you can activate it without upgrading. Just make sure you pull the cord asap. I know because i re-imaged my drive with 3.1.5f and had to reactivate it.
