Hi Everyone,
Today I decided after a YEAR I would plug my R10-250 Directv receiver into the phone jack to see what kind of updates I would get. Low-and-behold, after 2 hours of downloading, installing, and resetting the box now says that it has the new 6.3a release (6.3a-01-2-357) My previous version was 3.1.5f-01-2-357

I decided to try and get the USB ports up and running with a Version 1 USB200M usb ethernet adapter. I plug the adapter into the USB port (I tried both), when I plug the ethernet cable in the 'connect' lights light up. (100, Connect, Link)

I see the following:
Computer Name: 3570001902867B5
MAC: 00:10:60:24:3B:42
IP: 200.200.1.125

PROBLEM
I am assuming this is the R10 on the network, so I did a PORT scan on the IP and found NO ports from 1- 20000 were open. Using putty i tried SSH, Telnet and others and non of them connect.

I am able to PING the IP so it seems viable.

SOLUTION:
Anyone have ANY ideas on how to get this working? Is there an application I should be using to get this to connect?

Thanks in advance! :)

Any help at all would be appreciative!

I did come across this page:
Zipperwiki

This page talks about "The Zipper" still requiring you to take the hard drive. Is this true?

I mainly want this to update the TIVO to allow for broadband updates so I can get rid of my phone and get vonage.

PLEASE HELP!

Only if you want to hack it and add telnet, ftp, twp,... No wait, thats what you wanted to do. Ues you have to pull the drive to modify the tivo os to have those things you want.

Actually unless there has been some new activity that I am not aware of, It is much easier to hack a hr1- if you start from version 3.1.5f, hack that and do a slice upgrade. Not impossible just easier. Oh and I don't have an hr10, so I haven't done it either way (easy or hard) so my advice is read, read, read, ask question and read some more BEFORE doing.
