I've put a lot of effort into, and made quite a few posts on, using Roxio (MyDVD in EMC9) to make DVD's from TiVo recordings and, although I've had some success, I still don't consider it reliable and still consider other methods preferable.
I am curious if there are people who use Roxio/Sonic stuff as their primary method for making DVDs from TiVo (and are happy with the results).
If you reply could you please include answers to the following:
1. Exactly which Sonic/Roxio product do you use (there are many and they do vary).
2. What resolution and bitrate are your TiVo files, or if you don't know that what Model TiVo and quality level of recording are you using?
3. Do you edit your files (e.g., to remove commercials)? If so what software do you use to edit? Does the edited file get loaded into Roxio/Sonic as an mpeg (.mpg)?
4. What "Project Settings" do you use, i.e., Resolution, Bitrate, etc.
5. Is roxio/sonic re-encoding when it burns? (If you see small preview video it is -- if you just see gray panel with oval lines it isn't.)
6. Do you burn straight to disc or to files, then later to disc?
7. Do your DVD's play perfectly? If not, what problems do you observe?
