I set up a recording for Conan last night to see Howard Stern's appearance. This is the MPEG2 channel 82 from NY. Just as the show was starting the screen goes blank, then the following message appears:
No need to call. We know the channel is temporarily unavailable and will return shortly.
Needless to say that Conan was not recorded. I switched to live TV on channel 82 and the Today Show was on so the channel is back. But why was it off in the first place? At least The Office and 30 Rock were uneffected.

This was probably caused by the current sun spot storms. Or a problem with NBC during that time slot.

It's happened the last 2 nights from what I have seen. Goes off right after Leno and the we are aware screen pops up. Had to watch Conan in HD on Cable and TIVO the SD channel.

If you watched it live, why would you have to record it? It's not like looking at Howard's mug needs to be done more than once. Not to mention Howard's talk show appearances are nothing more than infomercials for Sirius. :)

BTW, you're in Great Neck. Can't you get WNBC-DT OTA?

While I was not watching Conan... in my experience when DTV posts that message WNBC-DT OTA is off the air as well. When they where working a lot in the ESB this used to be a regular late night annoyance.

I figured if it was a problem with the transmission from NBC then cable wouldn't have it either.

On his radio show, Howard said the only reason he is making these appearances is to sell Sirius radios. He'll be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight ...

I read on another forum that there has been some antenna work going on at the ESB.

Never tried OTA in my condo, I probably could get it. Reason to Tivo it was for my gf who was working the night shift at the hospital. She's going to have to enjoy it in crappy SD instead :(

This has been happening on and off for months. NBC HD from NY goes off the air at 12:35AM.

I TIVO both Conan and Leno....both showings for each every night.

On Thursday AM neither rerun/late show for Conan nor Leno recorded from WNBC-DT that I receive OTA....and last night (early this AM) Conan cut off after one minute on the 12:30am show...and Leno's show at 3:05 AM did NOT record at all. This is the first time I've had this happen with BOTH shows in one overnight period....and I've been recording both shows nightly since early October.

I AM happy to see that I wasn't the only one who noticed it....because I was starting to get a wee bit concerned that it was a hard drive issue or a reboot problem.

I just watched the Philly HD feed and there wasn't any issues, Howard was a hoot. He and Conan work well together, good appearance.

Is the Philly HD feed MPEG4?

Howards appearance will repeat next week at 3:04 am. I set a recording for NBC SD. Right now I don't remember if it's Thursday or Friday morning.
