Spike TV starts showing Voyager on Monday, 12/18. Starting with the pilot (Caretaker), selected episodes from the first five seasons will be shown from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Eastern) each day for the first week. I don't know what the schedule will be after that.

Which season did 7 of 9 join the cast? That's when the show became (semi)-worth watching, IMO.

Fourth, I believe.

Fourth, I believe.

Wow. I was expecting an answer like "4 of 7" ...

Is there any reason why they wouldn't run the entire series? The answer "It's SpikeTV. Did you expect anything more?" is only partially valid.

Note that he didn't say that they wouldn't run the entire series. He said that for the first week they would be showing selected episodes, followed by an as yet unknown schedule.

Given that by far the best episodes of the series came much later, I think if they are trying to attract viewers, starting off with the best/most popular ones makes a lot of sense.

Spike has shown TNG and DS9 in order. I expect they'll do the same with Voyager.

The DS9 launch on Spike two years ago was similar. They started with the pilot and showed selected episodes for the first week. Then, it started in its regular time slot with "Emissary" again the following Monday and ran in order.

Funny, my brother and I were talking about this yesterday. I had wondered when it was going to start. And here is my answer.

Ask and ye shall receive. :)

So when is Spike going to go HD? ;)

Why do you people want to watch hacked up reruns? (and are they still squishing the picture too?) They're all on DVD..

(yes, except for catching maybe ONE episode of a show I missed, that holds for basically all shows for me. The last things I watched in their entirety from syndication/cable were Mad About You & Thirtysomething.. If I had just waited a few more years, I'd've rented them on DVD..)

mattack, because the DVD sets are way expensive? I will watch the shows on Spike casually, and that costs me nothing. :)

$40 to $50 a season? I'm there. (maybe $60 if it's 24+ eps of a killer show)

$100+ per season? No friggin' way.

I think it's a universally accepted fact that Paramount has way overpriced their Star Trek boxes. Even the Next Gen boxes still go for near $100 each.

What they said. I'm just about as big of a Trek nerd as there is, but I don't own any of the seasons on DVD. $100/season? No f'ing way.

At that cost, owning three season of TOS, seven seasons each of TNG, DS9 and VOY and four seasons of ENT would cost $2800.

I think prices are down a little now, but personally I'm not even willing to pay $50/season.

Tivo records 3 eps of TNG for me M-F. It never matters to me which ones they are, they're just there if I need a TNG fix. Why spend all that money on the DVDs?

Can't wait for Voyager, but wake me up when they're past all the Kazon crap, but before the Seven of Nine catsuit-of-the-week pandering.

I just realized that I have Netflix now, so I could rent it. I dunno why I didn't think of that before!

But still, I will probably do a SP/SL of it on Spike just the same and pic and choose episodes I like.

Speaking of DS9, it's getting good again. We are in the midst of the War with the Dominion.

Is that the Sacrifice of Angels episode? And one other?

Netflix + DVD Shrink = very happy trek fan

This brings up a good question. Do you think there are copy right laws in the star trek universe? I would think the Ferengi would have the most strict and I would not want to violate the Klingon or Romulan DMCA. A federation penal colony would probably be ok but I do not think I could survive very long on Rura Penthe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rura_Penthe_(Star_Trek)) if you know what I mean.

Actually, for the DS9 launch, they played EVERY episode from the first 1.5 or 2 seasons, consecutively (skipping nothing), 7 or 8 hours per day.

I didn't mean buy -- I meant rent.. (and if you already pay for Netflix, it's not an _added_ cost).

Plus, according to dvdpricesearch.com, the entire series is $557.29.

That's a lot, but less than what you said.. Heck, I don't even re-watch TV shows all that often, but season 1 of 'er' is $8.39 at amazon.. so I'm so buying it. (I've come THIS close to buying the various seasons for a bit less than $20-ish when they've been on sale at brick & mortar stores lately.. and I've even got the past few seasons on my home burned DVDs.. the commercial ones are way better though.)
