New Series 3 making humming noise

I just turned on my new Series 3 which I purchased directly from Tivo and it's making a low frequency humming noise that increases and decreases in intensity about every two seconds. I'm not talking about a barely audible hum. I have the unit set up inside a closed media cabinet about 12 feet away and I can hear it clearly even when the television is on. Needless to say it's extremely annoying.

Is this normal for everyone else or should I be looking into swapping this unit out for another? Is there something simple on the Tivo I can adjust to resolve this problem?

The S3 is typically quite quiet. If it doesn't quiet itself down after a day or so, consider calling TiVo and having the unit replaced.
