I saw this offer on craigslist and wondered if it was a scam. It's being offered for 90$. I don't have a subscription with Tivo yet. I really want to get it though. If it seems legit how do I go about registering it and making sure I get the service? Thanks for any help.

Tivo 40h Series2 with fully functional service for 11 months.
- Original Tivo Remote
- Original User's Manual
- Excellent condition
- 1-year plan with Tivo is $199, box not included

You'd be able to use it, but if you tried putting it in your account, you'd void the remaining 11-months on it (causing a termination fee, if any, to the original owner), and you'd have to make your own contract starting fresh.

If you don't call in to change the account, you'd be able to use it for the remaining 11-months, but you wouldn't be able to use online scheduling or MRV during that time.

It could be one of the boxes whose lifetime was transferred to a series 3.

I don't think people are supposed to sell these boxes. It probably would work, but the original user would have control over it basically, including tivo to go.

The only thing the original owner could do is schedule recordings online. There would be no TTG access.

Not true..just find the code under SI and load the desktop using that code, it would not be your code after the 11 months are up.
