I am trying to upgrade my Series 1 Sony SVR-2000 with a wireless card to integrate it into my network. I found quiete a few sites that explain tyhe procedure and even sell adapter cards, but I can't find anywhere exactly what manf./model card is compatible. (Prism2 chipset OK, but who makes these?)

Is there a way to hook up a PCI Linksys card?

Thx

For the Series 1, your only choice is the "AIRnet" card with a compatible wireless card. See http://9thtee.com/tivoairnet.htm for more information.

No, a PCI card will not work. There is no standard connector in a S1 TiVo.

Thanks,
I was eying the card sold by 9thtee, but I guess I can’t figure out what specific PCMCIA card I need. Is there a list of compatible Prism2 chipset PCMCIA cards anywhere?

Sorry for not being clearer in my initial post.

Well, 9thTee used to sell a compatible card, but I guess they're hard to find. You can ask on the Silicon Dust forum (whose owner created the TurboNET and AirNET cards.)

A better option perhaps is TurboNET (for wired Ethernet) and, if you must have wireless, a wireless bridge (sometimes called a "game adapter") which turns a wired connection into wireless. Then you can have Wireless-G and even WPA, rather than B and no encryption (or WEP at most).

Thanks again, I may go with the second option. Wireless B and WEP did make me somewhat reluctant. The bridge option I hadn't even considered.

Thanks for the quick responses too.
