I have a 2month old Series 2 Tivo that has been working fine until yesterday.
It isn't full, it only has 5 shows stored on the play list, the new shows it records show up in the menu, but when I click to play them, it switches to the menu to save the show or delete the recording. It does NOT play the show.
I have powered it down and tried to record another show, same thing.
It shows the beginning of the progress bar, then switches to "Are you finished viewing this show?" screen and asks if I want to save the show or delete it.
Any sugestions?

What do you mean you "have powered it down and tried to record another show"?
TiVos don't get turned off to operate. TiVos don't get turned off, period.
When you say you've "powered it down", do you mean you tried "rebooting" it? ("Rebooting" involves unplugging it from the electricity for a minute or two, then plugging it back in and letting it get itself going again.)
Sometimes solves "little" problems that pop up once in a while.

I meant that I did the normal reboot and when that didn't work, I unplugged it to reset it - (powered off reset)
The thing will record live tv and play it back for me, but will NOT record from any of my subscriptions or wish-lists. I have deleted and remade my wish lists and it shows the new recordings on the "Now Playing" menu - but when I try to play them, it asks if I want to delete them.
The progress bar shows the right duration when playback starts, but the cursor doesn't move along it and it pauses on a green screen and asks if I want to delete the recording or keep it. It never plays.
In each case the details look correct in Now Playing (i.e. the right descriptions and durations), but when I play them they terminate immediately - i.e. they go straight to the "Delete Recording" screen.
edited for clarity :)

I spent about a half hour on the phone with Tivo tech support - they confirmed that it is an issue with a programming patch which was released and they said my box will get another patch today to fix the issue....so I guess I wasn't the only one with this problem.

I feel for ya! I have been having this problem for weeks. I can see my programs on TiVo Desktop, but the Windows Media will not play it. I have tried everything and nothing works.
Maybe I should try Support also.
