View Full Version : Help please. HR10-250 with no picture or sound, only guide

any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated as DirecTv of course is no help at all. this is my second unit, the first died and DirecTv sent me a refurbished HR10-250 at the beg of the year. it started to jump around about a month ago and i knew something was wrong. then three weeks ago, no picture or sound at all. called DirecTv to get a new one but all they will give me is 20-700, the DVR which i HATE and refuse to use. bought a new hard drive from weaknees and put it in last night, but go thru the setup and same thing as previous drive. i get the guide but no picture or sound, everything else seems fine. can do all the tests and all is fine (signal strength, can call out,...). maybe something on the motherboard or something i can try to replace? i want to keep my HR10-250 and fix it if i can b/c i dont want to use the DVR from DirecTv and cant really afford right now to spend $1K for a new one from weaknees, want to get this one working again if i can. thanks for any help or guidance anyone can give me.

Seeing that you are new, you probably don't realize there is a forum *just* for the HR10-250. Go to "DirecTV HDTV TiVo Powered PVRs". There are lots of folks there who can help.
