View Full Version : Please Help - upgraded Tivo boots repeatedly

I've had a 240080 since 2003. That year, I added a 160GB drive, using a drive bracket from Weaknees and a tool called MFS 2.0. It's been working fine until very recently. Now it boots repeatedly and never gets past the second screen.

When I upgraded it, I made a backup CD and I still have that CD.

I understand it's now possible for Tivo to see more than 137GB (or whatever the limit was), so I bought a new Western Digital 320GB drive for it.

Can anyone point me to what I need to do to get it going with the new 320GB drive, with Tivo seeing all of the drive?

Also, is it possible to determine which of the old drives is bad? If one of them is still good, I'd like to continue using it in the Tivo.

Thanks,

Greg

Download latest MFStools with LBA48 support and use old backup image. Suggest just using new hard drive for more reliability, but you can test the drives using the downloadable manufacturer's drive test utility in your computer.
