It took a few days for this one to show up online, I was getting worried it wouldn't get posted.
Who would have thought a little clue like "find the child in the swing" would be so difficult? At least it was a clue instead of simple directions. Quite a few people have complained about the US TAR and the shift to more directions than clues, so they'd have liked this one.
I'm really getting tired of "I'm afraid of heights guy". Being afraid is one thing, whining about it like a little kid is another. The previews show another challenge for him.
The models who were eliminated seemed to be the worst sports about it in the history of the race. They'd even been told earlier by another team that the private car thing was against the rules, so they should have time to come to grips with it. I laughed out loud as they told the other team not to tell, when they've been followed by a camera the entire time.
Their boastful bit at the end about winning fair and square sounded so hollow since they'd spent a LOT of time in cars and might have been still stuck looking for a swing if they hadn't caught rides.

Yeah, fun to see the racers misread the clue (one team even realized it after they finally found the clue, they reread the clue and it said "at the ferry terminal"), goes to show you have to be careful, read the clue fully, and not race around. Most of the teams raced right out of the terminal and went careening around the town looking for girls, swings, schools, books????, statues, etc. hahhahahhahhahaa
Sahil and Prashant should have known better about the "No passenger vehicles" rule. From the sound of it, all the teams were told the rules before the start of the race, including this rule. How they missed it is beyond me, as ALL the other teams remembered it.

Any hints on where to search? I have not been able to find Episode 5 yet.

I liked the structure of this episode - it should act as a model for the series. There's one (and only one) bunch up and it's right at the start, so after that the race is on for the whole episode. A nice pair of choices for the detour, where kicking the rugby goals was a physical but challenging task for most teams, and the sail rigging appeared complex but do-able in a reasonable amount of time.
I'm getting a little weary of the guy freaking out about height challenges, then doing them anyway. But he provided one of the best lines when inching around the tower with his nose pressed tight against it - when asked "did you even see the view?", he says "I'll see postcards".
Did the US TAR ever mention a rule about not riding in private vehicles? I don't remember hearing it, but then I don't remember anyone ever hitching a ride either. Just seems strange that it's been mentioned in a couple of episodes by multiple teams in TARA.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. Definitely reminds me of the good old early TAR days of actual clues. The structure did work well. The races seem much more interesting without the constant equalizers, despite teams getting stretched out a bit. It's nice to see a team's speed payoff. So far in the season they've also provided good opportunity for people to be able to lean on their teammates when needed. I like that. That's part of interesting teamwork. Seeing one person stretch to do what their partner can't do. I also enjoy how the teams have generally all been very supportive of each other so far, not bickering.
That probably was the most bitter sendoff, but hey, they'll probably get over it in another day or so. They had a good spirit during most of their travels, taking the time to appreciate the places they were in, and keeping a jovial light-hearted spirit even when they suspected they were last. I would have rather seen a team like Andy and Laura go, but I'm OK with them going too. But it shows it pays to study the rulebook thoroughly before starting the race. :D
I personally liked having more of the non-elimination legs early, as every season of TAR I've complained to myself that the first team got eliminated before I even got to know them. I enjoy having a bigger cast for longer and actually getting an opportunity to appreciate the teams before they're gone.
All the variety in accents is fun. :)

A few seasons ago, they had a "find the hot Aussie in a bikini in the park." The might have been more motivating had they done something like that here.

Last season, they had a "no private moped" rule in Vietnam but that was for safety reasons. Maybe the producers here barred the riding in private cars because they didn't want any of the racers kidnapped by a rogue Kiwi.
