When did the 2000 craptastic movie with Jim Carrey change it's title???

When it was originally released, all the posters said "THE GRINCH".

Now every Christmas when I add it to my TiVo, the movie and the original 1966 classic Chuck Jones special have the same name! Even imdb list both as "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

False Advertising!!!!!!

The Jim Carey move TRIED REAL HARD.

I mean, George W. Bush-level HARD.

But it just failed. :( Which is too bad...but it was a kid book stretched into a 24 minute cartoon. Stretching it into a 90 minute movie? A deadly proposition. :(

It should have been a 24 minute live action movie.

I always have to look in the program info screen to figure out which one it is.

Just buy the right DVD and you don't have to worry about recording it. :)

When did the 2000 craptastic movie with Jim Carrey change it's title???It didn't. It was always "officially" called "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas". The ads just called it "THE GRINCH" because (a) it made it easier to say on TV, and (b) the long version wouldn't fit on those movie marquees that list the show times they have at theaters now.

Hmmmm. I got it with an auto-record wishlist for "Grinch" using the categories Children and Animated. I got the one I wanted and not the Hollywood craptacular.

I didn't think the movie was bad at all. Yes, it wasn't true to the original, but so what?

Wasn't there a long version of the cartoon shown one year? I remember a 60min version (with some animation creation special as part of that time)

The original Grinch has the same problem as the early Charlie Brown shows, the networks have upped the amount of time that goes to commercials since they were made. In order to see an uncut version of both, you have to pad a 60 minute timeslot.

The word grinch will never have the same meaning to me now thanks to How I Met Your Mother.

Dr. Seuss' How the See You Next Tuesday Stole Christmas.

Doesn't quite have the same ring, does it?

Was it just me or did they just replace Phil Hartman with Tom Bergeron for the 'making of' section. It was virtually a line for line version of what Phil did.

I guess Phil's tragic end has made him less palatable for a children's Christmas special?? That's too bad.
