Need help/opinions on whether I should buy a second S3 before the end of the year and transfer the lifetime I have on my S2 DT or just sell it outright since there are so few S2DT's with lifetime on them and use the proceeds to purchase a S1 with lifetime to transfer. Looks like the benefit from transfering from the S2DT is the additional year of service on the DT and me being able to keep my Home Media Options which I wouldn't have until/unless the S3's get the ability. The downside is less money right now and a boat anchor after a year unless I wanted to sub again at what will hopefully still be a multi-service discounted amount. Another downside is having to mess with ebay and trusting someone doesn't sell me a lifetime box that they have already transferred service on but is still in the 60-90 period before TiVo lists it as such. Any help much appreciated.

The plus side if you do transfer is that if the s3 ever do do MRV then you will be able to transfer HD content between both of them.

Downside is you will have to pay alot to get it.

If you go the series one route and transfer the lifetime off the unit, TiVo will most likely want a full 3 year sub comittment to get the $6.95 MRV - seems to me you're going to have to make up your mind on this one. You seem to have the pros and cons down.

You won't have to sign any kind of long-term deal to get the muti-unit price. Once the subsidized portion of the box is paid for, the pricing is simply 12.95 for the first unit and 6.95 for each additional. If you have a lifetime unit, any additional units are 6.95.
