I am considering purchasing a TiVo® Series2™ Dual Tuner DVR. I currently only have basic cable via Cox.

If I am not mistaken, I should be able to record two basic cable shows at the time with a TiVo® Series2™ Dual Tuner DVR. Am I correct?

If I am taping two shows at the same time, am I able to watch live TV?

If I am taping two shows at the same time, am I able to watch a pre-recorded show?

Finally, besides the Tivo unit, would I need any other equipment?

Thanks for your help.

Yes.
No. (You cannot change channels while recording 2 shows at the same time. However, you can watch one of the shows while they are recording.)

If I am taping two shows at the same time, am I able to watch live TV?Standby mode is intended to allow this but this function is broken in S2DT units for the time being.

Well, you aren't "taping" anything (Sorry, pet peeve), but what you can do is put a spitter on your cable line and plug it in to your TiVo and TV at the same time, so if you are recording two shows you can just watch live tv on your actual tv, assuming your TiVo is connected to your tv via SVideo or RCA...

1. Correct.

2. If you put a splitter on the cable before the TiVo you can connect the other branch to the TV and use the TV's tuner to watch a 3rd channel live. In fact, the S2DT comes with a splitter - normally used to feed a cable box and the TiVo - and coax.

3. Yes.

4. If you use WiFi, then you want the TiVo branded 11g WiFi adapter. If you plan to use the phone line or wired Ethernet, you don't need anything else.
