Lost sound on SkyD through Tivo

My wife had disconnected everything to set up Xmas tree but on reconnecting all items I now have no audio at all coming from my SkyDigital unless I disconnect my Tivo.

We have an origonal unaltered Thompson Tivo with a pace Sky Digital box, no vcr but also use an old analogue cable box.

If I take the tivo out Sky works ok but when I start Tivo the Sky audio stops -
All programes that are saved cto Tivo play with audio ok but if I record something new it has no audio.

If i bypass Tivo - Terrestrial and the cable both work ok. :confused: :confused:


Has anyone got any suggestions? Is this something that could have nothing to do with the connections?

Been swapping connections for 5hrs now and getting very confused :confused:

Do you get sound if you press aux on the tivo remote?

If so you have the now infamous sound switching chip failied to initialise

Try soft restart of tivo from system and restart tivo

Yes, it seems if I press aux I can get sound,

Just gone to system restart and picked restart (3 x thumbs down and enter)

Your a Star - restart seems to have it all working ok, really appreciate your help.

It this something I should be reading up on here or elsewhere? Is it the start of any particular issues or a sign of something else which may go wrong.

Several threads exist on the topic and it happens more often lately.

More so with upgraded machines

It would seem something in Tivo is begining to fail. Power Supply Unit, capacitor maybe somewhere on the mother board.

Like us humans our Tivo's are getting old :(

Hmmm, maybe that's a factor in the "helium sound" issues people are starting to report too...

Perhaps there is a market for unused or hardly used Tivo motherboards.......
