I had my hr10-250 at 3.1.5f and zippered a year ago. Then when 6.3 came around I upgraded to 6.3 using the manual method from DDbase. I must of screwed somethingup since I lost all hacks except for 30 skip and I lost network connectivity.
Now I just bought a 750 gig drive to upgrade one of my 250 gig drives to go from 500 to 1 terabyte.
I figure I can use hinsdale instructions to dd my primary tivo drive with the kernal on it to the 750 and then expand.
My problem is how do I then revert to 3.1.5f and keep my shows and passes. so that I can then zipper again and then use the slicer to go to 6.3
thanks in advance for any help

I'm 99% sure you can't.

You will have to restore a backup image of 3.1.5f to revert back to the older OS. If you made a backup image of 3.1.5f then whatever settings, season passes, preferences, etc., that were in place at the time you made the backup will be contained in the backup image and will be restored along with the image.
If you dd the existing 6.3a drive to the 750 you may or may not be able to expand it. It all depends on whether or not the image was ever expanded in the first place. Chances are it wasn't but the only way to tell for sure is to give it a shot. I'd recommend trying to add the 750GB drive as the B drive first.
Note that there are boot issues reported when using some of the latest Seagate drives, which is what I assume you have since I don't know of any other brands that have introduced a 750GB model yet. You should try the Seagate as both the A drive and the B drive to see if you have any problems getting the Tivo to boot up. I've found that using them in conjunction with another brand (i.e., WD or Maxtor) tends to work best. Two Seagates may not allow the Tivo to boot at all due to a higher load on the power supply imposed by the drives.

If I can not revert to 3.1.5f with out losing all my settings and shows then I guess I just want to fix fakecall hack since I can't stand the nag screen anymore. Will I be able to do this from a serial bash?
I am going to pull my drive anyway to dd the larger drive so I guess it will probably be simpler to reinstall hacks this way, any opinions?

I have a back up image it might be 3.1.5e but I do not think that it will be an issue. But if I restore that image will I lose my shows?

Restoring any image will wipe the drive and everything on it. 3.1.5e will work fine with the killhdinitrd'd kernel.
Yep, a clean install and hack from scratch is what I'd do. In fact, that's exactly what I did with all three of my HDTivos except I watched all the recorded shows first before wiping the drive with a new install.
