[ clear ] Over on JP's livejournal, Jackson has made a very informative update on the upcoming season two DVD. What do we have to look forward to? Well, there's commentary for every episode, including some with guests James Urbaniak (Dr. Venture) and Mike Sinterniklaas (Dean Venture), there's some more live action extras as well as a bunch of deleted scenes cut after storyboards and animatic. Sounds excellent. Oh, and it'll be out on April 17th, 2007. Do I smell a new countdown? You bet I do!
It's also worth noting (and Jackson did note it, but it bears repeating) that you can purchase the season one DVD on Amazon.com for a mere $8.99 + shipping. So if you don't have it yet, there's really no excuse unless you somehow lack nine dollars. And if you do lack nine dollars, maybe you should stop reading Venture Bros. web sites and get a damned job you dirty hippy! Seriously.

[ clear ] If you periodically take a gander at the AS schedule you may have noticed this interesting bit scrawled at the bottom of the most recent one:
What does this mean? Well, 3rd & 4th Q of course means the 3rd and 4th quarter of (I assume 2007), which would be July through December. The number after each show would be the number of episodes ordered (or planned). Yes, that's a '26' after Venture Bros.
So, twenty-six new episodes? Possibly starting late next year? Season three is of course more of a reality than season two was at this point, so a renewal wouldn't be very shocking, however a 26 episode season would be crazy. It's also possible that those 26 episodes could be seasons three and four. Either way we can't say until there's something more official I guess. So just hold onto your butts. Okay? Good.
http://www.adultswim.com/schedule/index.htmlThe season three stuff is pretty speculative, he's guessing based on some random scribbles on the adult swim website. Could be referring to re-airing the 26 episodes of seasons 1 and 2 of Venture Brothers. There will definitely be a season 3 of course; nothing official announced yet though.

Glenfiddich whiskey's current advertising campaign apparently centers around a fictional character named Brock Savage. There's a billboard I see on my way to work that says something like "'Make mine a double.' -- Brock Savage" -- and every time I see it, of course, I think of Brock Samson.

I was not aware of this advertising campaign until I read your post; a very quick Google search comes up with nothing earlier than 2004, so Brock Samson is probably older, though Venture Brothers is obscure enough that Glenfiddich's advertising agency might not have been "borrowing".
A Google search for both names (using quotes around each) comes up with no hits, so you might be the first person to comment on this odd similarity (as far as Google is concerned, anyway)! Used both spellings since it is easy to forget Samson is the correct one:

Bumping this thread since Venture Brothers Season Two DVD is set for release April 17th. And also preproduction work for Season Three has begun. We probably won't see Season Three for another year, ie, early 2009.

For your viewing pleasure, courtesy of the internet and Quick Stop Entertainment, here is the short teaser promo for The Venture Bros. Season 2 DVD (http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/?p=3939) that Doc put together for our recent NY Comicon appearance.
( . . . . . . )
PRODUCTION UPDATE: WEEK -2
We began pre-pre-production a week ago in the spacious new Chelsea headquarters of World Leaders Entertainment. The in-house staff of The Venture Bros. presently consists of me, Stephen DeStefano (Storyboard/Character & Prop Design Supervisor), George Fort (Background Design Supervisor), Liz Artinian (Color Supervisor) and Rachel Simon (producer). Basically we spent the last week trying to figure out or remember what our jobs are and where the hell Rachel packed everything. Our goal over the next couple of weeks before full production starts is to tweak some of the stock character and background models for the show till they become even more lovely and Korea-proof. I finished my first script over a week ago and am at various stages of development of three others. Doc's almost done with his first one and is also chipping away at a couple more. None of them are our season premier. We probably won't get to that script till next month.

Funny enough yesterday I was going to come on here and ask if anyone knew if season three was ever going to come out or if they had just given up on making the show.

Yea, it was aired in the timeslot they had advertised as being the ATHF movie. I recorded it to see just how stupid I was and laughed my butt off. They totally got me!
The new Venture Bros clip they played wasn't finished and only had vocal audio, but it looked pretty darn good. They had the main characters in several of the costumes that we saw on the big Season 3 poster pic they had on their site.

Adult Swim is now airing promos for Season Three.
Some things I caught in new footage: Dr. Henry Killinger opening his magic murder bag; Sargent Hatred's hover tank; a blimp or airship with the logo of the Guild of Calamitous Intent on the side; a gorilla (not King Gorilla); Brock Sampson beating up some army guys who look like Sargent Hatred's minions.

Also the first episode of Season Three of The Venture Brothers is now in my TiVo's programming guide: Sunday June 1, 11:30pm eastern time, "Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny".

Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny
...is the name of the season premiere. Just in case you were wondering.
No idea what the name means. Don't feel like finding out; I like surprises. :)
Below, video preview of Season Three, shown at NY Comic Con.
This video has actually been out on the InterWebs for a while now, but might as well post it here to whet everyone's appetite (youtube tags don't seem to work on tivocommunity forum so I'll post the URL links...youtube video isn't very good but the audience reactions are funny...quick stop entertainment link is good high quality video):

Comic Con Season 3 Preview
Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you can check out the extra-special NY Comic Con preview even if you didn't attend. Granted it's in a tiny window with crappy YouTube compression and shaky-cam and uh, someone's head is kinda in the way, but you get the general idea:

I think the word you are looking for is 'awesome'. Also check out the related videos for portions of the Q&A.

Edit (April 24 at 5:21pm): There's an official version of this at Quick Stop Entertainment, or you can click on through to see it here if you want.

SPOILER ALERT!
The Season 3 preview piece we showed at the NY Comicon is now up, in all it's non-bootlegged, widescreen, crystal-clear, fully audible glory over at QUICK STOP ENTERTAINMENT . Or, you can watch it below (I think...I've never embedded a video before).
Don't watch it if you don't want to ruin anything for yourselves...
It should be noted that, while an entertaining group of clips, this piece is by no means a "best of Season 3" reel. Doc only had three and a half completed episodes to cull from at the time he put this together.
Production updates and more about our Comicon experience to come in a later post...
We Love You,
JP

The Schedule Rolls In:

The Schedule Rolls In
While not complete by any means, Adult Swim has once again updated their crazy schedule so that it contains the first nine episodes of season three. No names have been given but it displays the production numbers as to tantalize and possibly confuse you. I've update the Mantis-Eye schedule accordingly, and I even added empty capsules for all the upcoming episodes, though they don't provide any useful information.
http://www.adultswim.com/schedule/index.html
http://mantiseye.com/?sched
It's also worth noting that the eighth and ninth episode titles were leaked on storyboard artist Stephen DeStefano's blog back in December (scroll down to the bottom to see them). So there you have Murder O'Clock and Now Museum -- Now You Don't!. Another episode title, The Ant Farm, was also leaked but not the production number associated with it, so I can't do much with that aside from speculate that we may finally see giant ant monsters. Finally.

Season Three: Eight Days and Counting
In celebration of season three starting in (roughly) one week, you may want to check out some articles:
* Animation Insider - "Team Venture returns very soon to late night animation hub Adult Swim for a third season. Packing all of the action, adventure and wedgies that one expects in a season premiere of The Venture Bros., this coming June 2008 will see the hilarious parody quest animation kicking off another stretch of new episodes."
http://www.animationinsider.net/article.php?articleID=1737
* AWN - "Once the boys leave home, they inevitably find themselves in danger. Doc Venture's work takes the family everywhere from a space station to the Bermuda Triangle and the slums of Tijuana. But when your father has enemies like The Monarch, there is bound to be trouble. It's a good thing that muscle-bound Brock Samson, the family's bodyguard, is around to deliver his brutal form of vengeance."
