I just found this via a Wired article
linky (http://www.merzo.net/)
It's a site where you can compare the sizes of various starships.

Wrong forum? Reported as off topic.

Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galatica, a variety of Star Trek iterations are all still on TV.

Whether it's in the correct forum could be debated either way, but how can you not laugh at an off-topic post from a user named FauxPas ?

The scale seems waaaay off for the Star Trek stuff. Either that or the series never accurately captured the "fact" that a Romulan warbird is 3+ times the size of the Enterprise D... Or that the Kazon ships were THAT much bigger than every other Starfleet vessel... Or that the little probe which afflicted Picard in Inner Light was nearly the size of the Enterprise D's saucer section.
I mean, c'mon!

D'Deridex class warbirds were supposedly roughly equivalent to a Galaxy class starship. One early TNG novel (The Romulan Prize, #26) made reference to a "D'Kazanak" prototype warbird that was about 3x the size of a D'Deridex warbird. This was never referenced in any canon materials.

EchoBravo, are you noticing that different pages are at different scales? I see the Romulan Bird of Prey, (No "Warbird" found) to be a bit smaller than the original enterprise, and much smaller than the Enterpise D.

Where's the Tardis? And would you compare the inside or the outside? :)

I guess I need to go back and take a closer look at the guy's website. I was looking at a page with all the Trek ships. It showed some alien vessels up top, Romulan, Kazon, etc... With a bunch of Federation craft below. It struck me funny right away, b/c he had the Enterprise E atop the D. The D is the bigger ship. The E may be longer, but Sovereign-class was not as big as the "luxury liner" Galaxy class.
I'll be sure to take a second look at the site. If I'm wrong, apologies to Jeff Russell, who obviously put a lot of time into that site.
Edit: I was wrong.
Damn, could I kill some time on this site. How hot are those Nebula and Akira class ships!?
The BSG Ship Size Research page is pretty cool, too. Talk about putting some serious thought into this stuff. There's no way I could apologize enough for armchair quarterbacking this guy's site!

Cool! I have some of those saved from when I stumbled onto the site a couple of years ago. Nice to see the addition of the newer ships.

I only looked at the '10x' page, but I did notice some discrepencies. EG. the Farscape NASA pod and Prowler look too small to fit a human seated upright, even though that was clearly how their pilots rode in the series. Also in the B5 section, the Centauri figters looked too big relative to the others (both from direct size comparisons and also from the size/orientation of the cockpit windows...).

You definitely seem to be right with the NASA pod and the prowler. If you drag the human next to them they barely look to be 10 feet long... The Centauri fighters don't necessarily look like they're off though. If you drag the human next to the Starfury you can tell that it's dead on, and then dragging the Starfury next to the Centauri fighter shows a very similar size fuselage, it's the drooping wings that make them look huge from the side.

I'm guessing they took graphics from shows or books and a single known dimension and scaled them. Blame the TV show or book I think for getting the aspect ratios wrong...

I like the "Warrior Bug" from the "Volkswagen Hive" (bottom right on the 10x page) myself... :)
