Summary

-Bought 54 series 40GB tivo last year
-Immediately put in second 120GB hard drive. Ran fine for 1.5 years
-Yesterday it froze. Unplugged, plugged power back in. Stuck on Powering Up screen
-Removed 40GB QuickView drive. Verified the disk was bad using the Maxtor tools
-Verified 120GB hard drive was good
-Installed instant cake on 120GB hard drive for a single hard drive. Image was successful (Supposedly)
-Installed single 120GB drive back into Tivo. Powered up. Still stuck on powering up screen.

Is there a specific type of IDE cable that you need to get this to work? I can't find the original one that came with the Tivo (for a single drive). I have a IDE cable in there now that can be used for two drives. Would that make a difference? Is there something else I should be looking at? I can hear the drive start up so I know the cable is connected correctly (the cable connectors are not keyed so you have to guess which is the correct way).

Any ideas?
Thanks
Brian

Is it jumpered right.?

The drive is jumpered to master. As far as I know that is what it should be for a single drive system.
Thanks

Nevermind. I double checked the jumper and it was set to Master W/slave rather than single drive master. Works fine.
Thanks
