View Full Version : Does your S3 Tivo sit level on a shelf?

I just received a Series 3 Tivo from Costco online. When I set it on my table, I noticed that it was not sitting flat. I confirmed this on my entertainment center shelf and even the kitchen counter. Only 3 of the four feet from the unit will touch down at any given time. The fourth foot is about 1/8" off the shelf. Touching the unit causes it to wobble a little bit.

Is this common with you other series 3 Tivo owners? I'm fortunate to have purchased this unit from Costco (so returns should be a breeze). There's just something I don't like about owning a roughly $1K investment that requires I put a match book under 1 of the feet. IMO... the nice high-end piano gloss case should not be this warped. I haven't activated it yet as I decide if I'm going to return it.

Yep, mine is level with an (also level) series 2 on top of it. Got mine from Best Buy about 3 weeks ago.

My S3 is level too. Take yours back. Should be really easy to take back at costco.

Thanks for the feedback! It sounds positive that maybe the warped S3 I have in my possession is (hopefully) a rarity.

More data points (i.e. comments) are certainly welcome. I'm thinking I just might order another one from Costco.

Are you missing a padded foot? I have heard of a few other people getting a TiVo missing a foot.

Stick a matchbook or wad of paper under the low corner so it doesn't rattle. I don't think it needs to be perfectly level.

All four padded feet are there (and appear to be properly installed). The case must be warped a bit.

I don't think I'll go the matchbook route for a high-end piano gloss finished $1k investment on day 1. I think a return is more likely (since I have the option and others seem not to have this problem).

Thank you all for your info!

Mine was warped. I have older tivos with this same problem. I just added a little shim. There is probably a batch out there with this problem. It wasn't worth returning since I haven't had any other problem with the unit.

I use to elevate mine by using checkers and scotch tape. It doesn't even look bad. :)
