Just now my S3 froze and would not go to TiVo central or change channels or do anything. So I unplugged it and not it just keeps rebooting. It will get as far as Tivo Central on the reboot and then do it again. I has been doing this for 30 min now  .

Anyone have any advise on how to get this working again?

TIA

Eric

Are you in the LA area, were you watching NBC?

Well, some people say rebooting problems are indicative of a problem hard drive. Toxic channels (which is why I asked about NBC in LA) can also cause rebooting to occur. You may want to just watch and see if it happens again, if it happens again you can either try getting a replacement or wait and see if 8.1 makes it stop. I am fairly certain my rebooting troubles are related to toxic channels so I am waiting for 8.1 which is supposed to fix the problem.

When does the 8.1 download come out?

I live in Eagan, Mn and I had the exact same problem happen to me. I was watching the “Tonight Show” while it was recording, but 20 minutes behind the actual time. Tivo started rebooting at 10:55. It would sometimes get to Tivo central but then reboot again. The Tivo try rebooting four times. I unplug my Tivo and waited two hours before plugging it back in, and now everything is working again. I did have to unplug and re-plug my wireless adapter to get it to connect to the internet again.

I believe the problem to be the Emergency Broadcast System test that was broadcasted over Comcast Cable at 10:55. It’s done every first Wednesday of the month at 10:55. There’s something caustic about that signal.

Many other people DVR's in the Twin Cities area had the same problem with the Emergency Broadcast System test over Comcast cable.

This thread may help - http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4649892#post4649892

Based on my conversations yesterday, if it happens with no cable cards in, TiVo will immediatly process a refund.

If it happens WITH cable cards in, they will first ask you to get new cable cards from your Cable Company and if the problem persists, they will then replace the box.

That is exactly what happened, it must have been the EBS. I hope that this doesn't happen every time they have this broadcast. Glad to know that it was not just me breaking my TiVo ;)
