Got my shiny new s3 last night and had Brighthouse networks come to install two cable cards (this is in Birmingham, AL). The tech was clearly not comfortable with this install. I shoved in the first card and waited about 5 minutes with no MMI screen. I then navigated over to the host information and he called that in. Firmware updates, they add this cable card to my account and we get some channels. After a minute or so my premium channels (HBO, HD and upper HD tier) come in. This is going great!
The second card not so much. I got a firmware update, but I never got any channels. The support on the phone said they would send the signal again and to reboot the tivo. I then got analog and hd channels on cable card 2, but no hbo's or upper tier HD. The tech left and said give it time, if it doesnt work he'd come back.
After about an hour of not working I decided to run guided setup and and least I'd be ready for him when he came back. Then I got the bright idea to reboot the tivo, as that seemed to do the trick before. Now I get only analog on both cable cards, no hd channels, no premium channels, and oh yeah, selected blocks of analog channels dissappear within 5 minutes of rebooting. They work for about 5 minutes, and then I cannot view them (but if I leave one of the tuners on a channel in that range, it does not drop out. But on the other tuner, I cannot get within that range. If I leave the channel on the tuner that is in that 'dropped' block, I can't get back to it [channel not available although it just was]).
After about 2 hours he came back, they 'hit' the cards again and some of the digital channels are showing up, but no premium, hd and the blocks of analog are still missing. He had no idea, neither did anyone he called, and he said it might take 'awhile' and to call and schedule a call in the morning if it is still not working. Not so encouraging.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I'm debating yanking both cards and re-doing the entire setup again. They should already be paired, so I'm not sure if I need to call etc. again. I really would like to minimize Brighthouse's involvement at this point.
Any and all help appreciated. I feared having problems after visiting the forum, and am actually debating if this is worth it...
