MRV between S2 and S3 (in the future)

I realize that any answer will probably be purely speculative but assuming (please God, please!) that the S3 eventually gets MRV will an S2 be able to copy non-HD shows from the S3 to the S2?

I haven't been able to find anything on this and I'm wondering if Tivo has say flat-out that it won't work or anything.
