I have a Series one Dtivo Sony T-60. I have installed the Turbonet card and can successfully complete the daily call via the net so I have to assume the hardware is working. I have hacked to enable telnet, but I am unable to connect. After a reboot, when I first telnet to the tivo, telnet connects but I do not get a bash prompt. Pressing any key closes the telnet session. When I attempt to reconnect, I get the "could not open connection to host" message.

I have tried rerunning tivoflash, have double and triple checked the config files but can not seem to figure it out. Software is version 3.5

Any suggestions?

Are you 100% sure the IP is what you think it is? can you ping the tivo?
a serial cable helps immeasurably for diagnosing networking issues

Positive. I can see it get an IP address in DHCP. Yes, can ping it. I can watch it connect to the router and make the daily call over the net.

My other tivo works great. I have applied the same hack on this one. Stumpted as to what is going on.

Update - so when I first attempt to connect, I connect but do not get a bash prompt. Hitting any key disconnects. If I try to reconnect immediately, not able to connect. But if I let it sit for a bit (I assume the session times out) then I connect again but still to prompt.

So, any idea why I am not getting a prompt?

just to check, you should try a different telnet client... you may be sending the wrong code(s) for ENTER

Tried both native xp telnet and putty. same results.

not 100% sure, but a dos line ending or syntax error in the tnlited line could possibly cause this
