Hello, I have a DSR704 with version 3.1 something software, (no software updates the last 2 years because I went cellular), and local channels . I have been getting occasional freezing / lockup during playback, so I decided to take this opportunity to upgrade to a larger hard drive. I have ordered a Seagate DB 35 series 250GB drive. I have some questions regarding this transition. Can I upgrade to version 6.2, using Instantcake, and keep my local channels without the box needing to make a phone call ? If this can't be done, what other options do I have? I would be willing to stay at 3.1 for a while, but would like to take advantage of the hacks available for 6.2. Thanks!

My hr10250, dsr7000 and hdvr2 didnt have the locals after I zipepred them, but after a few hours the locals were back with NO phone line connected, they just have to update the database from the sat.

Is this totally accurate? I only ask because I had locals before I zippered(I don't have a phone line-needed network support) but they have not come on for over a week. Do I need to call in and if so will Direct TV question why I am calling? Thanks...

Straight from the Wiki (should check there if you have issues/problems):
"Call 1800directv (1-800-347-3288) and access extension 721 which will reenable the channels"

I have tried this and had no success. After my channels don't come back, it wants to transfer me to an operator. Really don't want to talk to anyone about this. Any other suggestions?

You can also have DirecTV resend your channel authorizations automatically using this new web page ....
https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/mydirectv/mysystem/mySystemResendAuthorization.jsp
You need an account at directv.com and need to be logged into that account.

Just call and act like a complete dumba$$, and athey will resend the signal.
Are you getting a signal now? Have you gone through the setup.
