View Full Version : Clear and Delete... Now no locals?

I had been having frequent lock ups with our HR10-250. So yesterday I did a Clear and Delete everything to see if that would help. I completed all that, and finally got finished but then I had no local SD channels. All other programming is fine. We have the oval 3 lnb plus a round dish for the locals. The locals work fine on the other two standard receivers we have in the house, and the local HD channels show up fine OTA, but no SD locals.

I called DTV and after a long phone call they decided something is wrong with our HR10-250 that the clear and delete exposed, and are sending a new receiver. Any chance this is a fixable problem?

Thanks

Yes, it very likely just needs a "hit" to the access card. Call DirecTV and, using the automated system, say you have "721" (I think, from memory) on your screen, unless you have a different extension. The system will automatically send the authorization over the satellite (which the CSR should have done).

BTW, they are not sending a new HR10. They are sending an HR20 (which you may or may not want--for starters you'll lose OTA and dual live buffers. And that's only for starters  ).

The CSR did do a "hit" as you call it... at least a couple times/ways. I can try the automated system to see if anything changes.

I understand that OTA isn't turned on just yet, and I'd be PO'd to loose HD locals, so I may wait a little while to install the new HR20 until that happens. I understand people are hopeful it will be very soon.

Usually after you use the "721" or they "hit" it as you say, it will bring them back right away.
Sometimes you have to reboot it to get them. Either way "it" should reread the sat info within 24 hrs.
Try a reboot and if nothing, call them back.

Well I received the "new" receiver from them yesterday. It is a reconditioned HR10-250. Should I install it, or should I demand a brand new one, which would likely be an HR20???

If you don't care for satellite HD locals, RSNs, and future HD programming, install the HR10-250, otherwise get the HR20 if you need MPEG4 HD.

I will eventually care about satellite HD locals once they add our market... whenever that is ( Cedar Rapids, IA). RSN's??? I'm not up on the MPEG4 stuff, does that mean I won't be able to receive Satellite HD channels sometime in the future with the HR10? When would that be?

Thanks

Why would you bother with satellite HD locals if you can get them OTA?

And considering that OTA is now being activated on the HR20.

Just convenience I guess. OTA works pretty well where I'm at, but we have had a few problems if the antenna gets moved etc. Kinda annoying when a show gets recorded all messed up. So it would be nice to have the satellite HD locals and get rid of the antenna someday. I just don't want to regret keeping the HR10 in the near future. As long as OTA is being activated on the HR20, then it seems that may be the way to go... but I'm fairly ignorant on the subject.

Is is within my right to demand a "new" HR20 instead of a reconditioned HR10, or is that just what I'm stuck with?
