I have some shows I downloaded over a year ago. I have wanted to upload them back to my tivo to watch, but it will not.
I can upload shows that I have recently downloaded and I can watch these older shows on my computer, but I would rather watch them on my tv.
Any ideas?
I have a Series 2 Tivo and use tivotogo v2.3a.
My Tivo has the latest/greatest upgrade from Tivo.
Thanks!

Just put the old .tivo files into the "My TiVo recordings" folder TiVo Desktop is linked to. If they have the same MAK, it will work.

Everything is under the same directory, d:\tivo.
The tivo sees them, it just starts to upload and them gives me the no video input error, like when the cable goes out.

I'm had the same problem, but with just one episode out of an entire series. Here's how I fixed it.
I stripped the .TiVo wrapper with a Windows program that I don't think we can mention on this forum, and then re-encoded the resulting MPEG into yet another MPEG. The original MPEG had one "timecode break" (whatever that is), which MPEG Streamclip fixed when it did the re-encoding on Mac OS X. I'm sure there are many similar encoding programs for Windows. TiVo Attach (http://home.comcast.net/~greg_burns/tivoattach/) for Windows attached the original .TiVo wrapper to the fixed MPEG file. The new .TiVo file uploaded to my S2 and plays.
Another problem I have is that my old .TiVo files don't go into folders anymore. I tried transferring from a Mac and a PC and even tried using TiVo Desktop's naming convention. The episodes all play fine but my NPL is a long, long mess. Any ideas?
[Edit to add: I just noticed you only have two posts. Please let me know if the explanation above is too cryptic. Your PC will be busy for a long time, but it's not very difficult.]

Can you email me off this posting how you striped that stuff out?
I have seen posts on tivo's site that you can now upload personal movies to tivo.
You have to use sonic mydvd or nero to encode it the way that tivo needs it.
Also, on your issue, I assume that you are displaying the tivo list my groups, correct?
Sorry, if that is a dumb question, but just want to confirm.
Thanks!

I just sent an email with some links for programs for removing the .TiVo wrapper.
I'm not going to be able to help much with re-encoding the freed MPEG file on Windows, but I think that people use VideoReDo (http://www.videoredo.com/), which has a free trial. Does anyone have suggestions for Windows programs for re-encoding a freed MPEG into another MPEG, particularly one that fixes "timecode breaks"?
Series 2s have been able to upload MPEGs from your PC for quite some time. The new feature, if I understand it correctly, allows you to share your MPEGs with other TiVo users. To upload an MPEG, it has to have specific characteristics (http://customersupport.tivo.com/TiVoCollection/4012D160-79C3-4238-96C8-A27B323D1413/ins_Content.html) or your TiVo will barf. Any MPEG with those characteristics will play on your TiVo; you don't have to use specific programs.
I use bittorrent to download ... umm ... home movies as .AVI files, convert them to MPEGs and watch on my TiVo. You can also rip your ... umm ... home movies from DVDs, convert them to MPEGs and watch them on your TiVo too. Actually, that's the only thing I use my Series 2 for.
With my folders problem, yes I'm sure that I set the option to display the Now Playing list in folders.

Let me give you some hints for your own Google search instead: "tivo directshow (http://www.google.com/search?q=tivo+directshow)".

SOLVED !
1. Right click on your TiVo system tray icon.
2. Edit the IP address to correct it to the proper IP
3. Turn on your TiVo Server service (set it to AUTOMATIC and then START it)
4. Reboot all your TiVo's.
5. Reboot your ROUTER and your MODEM and your master PC.
Bingo - file transfers and shows transfer again.
WOW. How did all this stuff get out of whack anyway.
HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU GUYS !
