Just got a mailing from DISH, I've been with Direct for over 8 years, the last few with Directivo. Dish is offering DishHD Bronze for $29.99 for 10 months (after mail in redemption - $200 off for subscribing to DISHHD Bronze or better), Dish HD SIlver for $39.99, Dish Gold for $49.99. Local in HD would add $5. Free activation plus additional $49.99 credit, free dvr or HD receiver upgrade. Free install and one premium package free for 3 months. The packages include these HD channels - Animania, Discovery, espn, espn2, family room, film fest, food tv, gallery, gameplay, hdnet, hdnet movies, hd news, hgtv, monsters, hdnfl, dish ppv, rave, rush, tnt, treasure, ultra, universal, worldcinema, worldsport, and 2 others I can't quite make out. DishGold also has National Geographic hd. DVR service is $5.98 month.

My questions:
1. Anybody tried to get anything from DTV using this offer as leverage?
2. I already have an HDTV and would love to get more HD content, besides over the air. I'd love to stay with Direct, but they currently don't offer as many HD channels (correct?), any idea when they will be adding more HD content?

Any input is welcomed, thanks.

DirecTV will not match that package exactly.

Come up with what you think the $$ value is and they may credit that to your account. If you need extra Hardware throw that in and calculate it both ways.

I have not negotiated with this specific offer, however I did do something similar when I wanted a DTivo a few years ago. I would think you will have a hard time getting a reduced cost on your service, premium channels and free hardware. As noted by Adent I would decide what is important to you and pick two of three items above.

When I did something similar I just called customer service and said I wanted a DVR and Dish would give me one free, but I would rather stay with DTV, could they do the same. I think you can get something from DTV, but probably not everything.
