I have a Philips HDR31202 with 80 GB hardrive. I want to remove that hardrive, keep it as a backup and replace it with one or two new hardrives. What is the maximum capacity that I can put on it? Is it better to buy 1 or 2 hardrives?

One drive more reliable and no limit on size.

I have the same unit and just put in a 300gb single drive. I Dont' think there's any real limit. You just have to get the LBA iso and run that, then instantcake (or similar). Without the LBA, I couldn't get my unit to boot. But now it recognizes the full capacity.

You need to get the ptvupgrade.com LBA boot disk. After the upgrade, you would need to run copykern to copy a new kernel to the TiVo that supports an LBA48 (larger than 137GB) drive.

Hey TAsunder:

What hardrive brand did you buy & did you get a good deal on it with any warranty?
