(duplicate post from the Tivo Upgrade Center forum...)

After completing a disk upgrade for my HDVR2, my tivo remote doesn't work (works fine with TV, but not received by the Tivo).

I strongly suspect this is as a result of the infamous white cable being dislodged (I tried to boot & it failed...then it booted okay after I reseated the cable...but there may be a bent pin).

I know dislodging the cable is bad...has anyone had a similar experience? Is there a fix? Perhaps replacing the cable???

Thanks, Steve Hurd

Check the circuit board mounted on the front panel that contains the IR receiver. Booting the Tivo with the ribbon cable dislodged tends to fry one of the inductors on the circuit board. I think it's labeled either L1 or L2. I've read that you can bypass the inductor with a jumper wire and get it up and running again. The best repair would be to replace the damaged inductor but if it works it may not be necessary.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I'll give it a try.
