View Full Version : Repaired HDMI Card Not Working

I have an HR10-250 with the dreaded first-generation HDMI card. After nearly a year of flawless functioning with my LG 42" plasma, the HDMI card quit abruptly a few months back.

I pulled the card and sent it to CCS for repair a few weeks ago, and it came back last week. I installed it, and it produced a picture during just the "Powering Up" screen, and then the TV lost signal. I removed and re-seated the card several times, re-booting each time, and each time, I got the same result. I also removed and re-seated the HDMI cable several times, to no avail. The System Information screen (which I viewed by switching back to component inputs) shows that HDMI is "Not Connected." And yes, the receiver is set to 720p.

CCS, for its part, claims that they tested their work, and that this is a problem with my TV or cabling. (To be fair, they also offered to re-test the card, although I suppose I would have to mail it back on my dime.) I think that it is unlikely that my TV or cabling is causing the problem, because they both worked fine until the card failed a few months ago. The only variable for which I cannot control is the software rev -- the HDMI card failed when my machine was still running 3.1, and now it is running 6.3a.

Is there any chance that the software rev has changed the HDMI compatibility in some way? My TV is an LG 42PX4D. Has anyone experienced similar problems with the same TV after the software update? Or am I getting hosed by CCS?

Unplug your TV.... So that your HDMI port on your TV fully resets itself.

(We have seen success with that when HDMI fouls up on the HR20).

Hi Earl!

Thanks -- that actually worked! Of course, now the image goes from OK to green, then to off, and then back to normal -- over and over again, once every few seconds. I suspect that THIS is a problem with the card. Does this sound like the typical HDMI failure?

Yes. I'd send the card back to them and have them redo it.

Glad it worked... at least to the point that help identified the problem with the card again.

I would agree with Runch... send it back.

Another thing to check... Check to see if possible your TV has a firmware upgrade. I know some Philips allow a USB Key to be used to upgrade the firmware of their TV's (my Pio needs a full computer connections).... not sure about the Sony's.

Sorry to hear you've had a problem with the card repaired by CCS. I've had nine of them repaired by CCS and have not had problems with any of the cards they returned to me. Fortunately they offer a 6-month warranty on the repair so you should only have to sell out a few bucks to send it back to them.
