View Full Version : Video Going Bad - Is it the motherboard??

Hi! I'm having a serious video problem with my 24004A with Lifetime.

After an hour or two, the video quality slowly degrades, until it's a very fuzzy black and white.

S-video is better than composite, but just a less fuzzy black and white.

The audio is fine.

I've restarted it; each time it's restarted, it's fine at first, then repeats the cycle, and soon becomes unwatchable.

I've tried replacing the video cable - no luck.

I just replaced the power supply - no luck.

I assume it's something on the motherboard, i.e. the video chip going bad. Is there ANY possibility that this is serviceable?

Does Tivo (or anyone) offer repair service that would preserve my lifetime subscription??

ANY ideas at all???

Thank you in advance for your time and attention.

You can send your box in to TiVo. They replace it with a refurbished unit for about $150. They will transfer lifetime to the new box.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I think my Tivo may be going the same route.

Yes, I sent it to Tivo, and as promised, they replaced it (and transferred the lifetime!) for $150. It's still working great!

And thanks, WSCannell!
