I am in Dallas and I had a similar problem to this thread.. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=325442
I am not sure if it is the dish or the switch or what, but we had an extremely windy day on the 15th, a week or two ago, and I lost ESPN, some HD, Fox Sports, Fox News, etc,, but retained 80 percent of my programming. THen I called and the stupid tech asked me to restart the box. I did, and what do you know, now I couldnt regain the guide at all and we didnt get service back until Thursday late afternoon. THey sent someone out this past friday but when he saw we had service he turned and left. The second level tech guy said that there was a problem with the switch since I was not receiving any signal at all on the even number transponders, and only a 50-70 % on the odd numbers. Even after we got the guide back, signal strength is still relatively weak and averaging in the 80's. They are supposedly coming out Wednesday to look again, but is there something that was wrong with DTV, or do they not need to even come?
I am a tech tard when it comes to DTV and the switches and all that. All I know is that the wind is supposed to pick up to 40 MPH and possibilty of sleet on Thursday, so if the wife doesnt get Grey's anatomy, I am toast.
While I am here. What is a good Off air HD antenna so I can keep using my HR10 instead of that horrid HR20? I have one of those big ass terk's in the attic but it is too big to actually expand in there and I cant get all the channels.
