If anyone can help me, I very much appreciate it.

V. POed about my tivo purchase. It's basically a complete waste of money at the moment. I had a perfectly working Motorola/Comcast DVR before I decided to change to tivo. Here's the problem:

Tivo Series 2 DT DVR.

As I understand it, I should be able to record two programs at once. One from "Basic Cable" [broadly ch 02 - 99] and one from the rest.

I have configured my tivo and set everything up correctly.

But I cannot record two prgs at once.

EITHER: Tivo does not see my basic cable set up and it records "fuzz" although I can watch basic cable programs.

OR (if I change my settings) Tivo can record basic cable, but I cannot change the channel - because it can only record on thing at once.

Why does tivo not record my basic cable? When I can clearly watch it, and change channels within it via the tivo guide?

any help appreciated. V. annoyed!!!!

Here's what you have to do-

If you no longer have a cable box, just feed the cable from the wall into the TiVo.

If you DO still have a cable box, split the cable coming in.

Feed one line directly into the TiVo.

Feed the other line into your cable box.

Then have the cable box feed directly into the TiVo's other inputs.

Set up the TiVo by way of "Guided Setup".

Carefully follow ALL the instructions, no matter how long it takes. USE YOUR MANUAL TOO. (The instruction book is your friend. Just ask Ralph Hinkley.)

Give the TiVo all the info it needs. Tell it if you have just "straight" cable, or are also using a box.

I have a feeling you hiccuped at some point during Guided Setup.

Don't let that happen this time.

Tell us exactly how you have your TiVo hooked up (box or no box, etc.), follow the above, and let us know what happens.
