Hi,
I have a disk that I used instant cake from PTV to build an image, that image was then upgraded by DT to 6.3a.
I installed it on a 500G disk (Maxtor) and then tried to add a second disk (250G WD) to add capacity.
I used blessed tivo and connected the two disks together on my tivo.
I booted at first and then power cycled and then gave me the GSOD.
Please help.....
Thanks,
Yuval. :(

You may have to start over again. You also should use mfsadd to add the second drive. This is more reliable. You need to put the two drives in your PC on separate IDE controllers. Take a look at these instructions: http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php

I did use seperate IDE controllers and followed the informartion using the BlessTivo.
What do you think I should do ? put the disks back in the PC and run the add command ? do I still have the data on the original disk, recorded shows etc. ?
Thanks,
Yuval.

You should use mfsadd, not BlessTiVo. The 500GB disk you speak about - Is this a new drive or is this the drive that you have been running with for a while?
I thought you had copied your original drive to the 500GB. If the 500GB was your current drive with all the shows, you may need to start with Instantcake.
However, someone on this board has created an update to mfstools that contains something called mfssplit. This may remove the second drive and allow the original drive to work again. Check out this thread: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=327239

Hi,
My 500G disk is the one I was running with and I was trying to add a 250G disk to it using the BlessTivo.
I backed up the system files prior to the operation using mfsbackup.
BTW - What is the problem with BlessTivo, I know the WEAKNEES use it all the time when sending an upgrade disk.
I'll try and split the disks.
Yuval.

BlessTiVo is an older tool. I am not sure how well it works with the current TiVos. Most people use mfsadd. Weaknees does something similar to BlessTiVo, but it may be a little different.

If you used mfstools (Instantcake) to upgrade then you can't use BlessTivo to add 2nd drive. If you download my bootcd from mfslive.org and send me mfsinfo output and I can take a look.
You might be able to divorce the drive using mfssplit tool included in the iso and add a 2nd drive using mfsadd.
mfsinfo /dev/hdc /dev/hdd > out.txt (where /dev/hdc is A drive, /dev/hdd is B drive)
You can send me out.txt file.

Hi,
Thank you, I will do that and send you the file ASAP.
I tired to download the CD image and burn it but when I try to boot the PC with it I was only able to gets to the point where it let you choose the options 1,2,3,4 and they the PC re-boots. Can you get the mfsinfo data from the standard PTV Linux boot CD ?
My wife (and a result me too if I don't want to sleep on the sofa) will be greatly appreciative if you could help me divorce the two disks and keep the shows.
Thanks,
Yuval.

Have you tried buring the iso file at 4x, choose no multisession(finalize disc),
disc-at-once. It's less than 5MB so it will burn really quick even at 4x.
Check MD5Sum after downloading to see if iso file is not corrupted.

How do you check the MD5Sum ?
Does the PC has tgo be configutred like described in the doc with the exact location for it to work/boot ?
Thanks,
Yuval.

Google for md5checksum. There are lots of free software out there.
Also, have you tried boot option 3. (text mode).

Hi,
I tried to dump the mfsinfo, from some reason it did not save it to the text file however I did pdisk on both disks and here is the output:
If you need the MFSinfo to help me please let me know I'll try it agian and send it to you, or type it in if I cannot save as text file.
