Do the reps know each time you talk to a different person and what was said??

They only know what was said if the previous person noted it. Also, the new dvrs are not readily available right now so calling and trying to haggle for 2 new units is really just a waste of time at this point. You have to be put on a waiting list just to be able to order 1.

are they still on a waiting list? Last week, when my hr10-250 died, I called them and asked for a replacement, they sent the HR20 (which I then kept, without charge). They've also since sent me a replacement HR10-250. Then, on Tuesday, I was called by the automated service saying I can order a HR20 now if i like.

I've called and was told you can get one now, but you have to pay the full $299 for it. I was told (CSR, so not sure if it's right or not lol) that those of us with HR10s should be able to get the $99 upgrade deal in about 3 weeks, and that was 1 week ago.
I think if your HR10 died, they would send a replacement, but as long as it's actually functioning, I don't think you're going to get a replacement.

You're complaining about $162 for *2* HR20's? That's a steal any way you slice it. Plus you can keep your HR10's if you'd like.

Just call them up and just ask them. That is what i did. About 6 months ago, i called retention and said, "I want a free hr10-250 and they said OK. I called about 2 weeks ago and said I want a free hr20, and they almost said ok....I paid $99 and free install and get to keep my hr10. Don't beat around the bush and ask how much it cost to buy out your contract, just be straight forward......good luck with that.

It is NOT a steal. When I bought my HR10, I was told by numerous people (including retentions) that it would be swapped for FREE when my Denver locals became available. I have dates, times, and names. The best they've offered me is $99 installed. PLUS a new two year commitment, and I would never own it, it is a "lease".

These guys were selling these for between $299-$599 for quite a while, promising people free upgrades. It wasn't a rogue CSR or anything, a LOT of people were promised free upgrades.

He was complaining that they didn't give a crap that he was considering taking his business elsewhere.

I was offered the free upgrade a year ago and they delivered on it in September when the unti came out. Right now, I think their stock is low so they are managing it differently. That shouldn't be your problem, but the reality of the situation means that it is.

Just, whatever you do, keep your HR10's. Resale is high on them right now.

Ahhh, well then I say go elsewhere if the alternative is just as good or better then DirecTV. No need for blind loyalty. If not for Sunday Ticket I'd probably be with Dish myself.

It's going on ebay this week. Series3 arrives tomorrow.

Sweet, it should offset your cost a great deal. I hate to see people give these things back to DTV.

I bought a second HDTV this weekend and I called DirecTV to get a second receiver knowing it would be the HR20. I called the A list phone number and asked to speak to retention. They transferred me without a hassle and I simply asked what deals they had right now. I got $10 off of my HBO for 6 months and $10 off of my overall monthly bill for 12 months. I then asked about hardware, specifically the HR20. He asked if I was on the waiting list and I said no I wasnt. He told me that he could get me one for $99. I asked if there was a rebate available for it and he said no but he could give it to me for $50. I said "SOLD!" I get it installed along with the new dish on 9/9.

I just called and spoke to a CSR and she has arranged for me to get an HR20 and 5lnb dish installed totally free! And I can keep my leased HR10-250 if I keep it activated.

Have a Saturday install.

Called retentions, same deal, free HR20 and keep my HR10. I passed and cancelled anyway.
