Apologies in advance if this is a duplicate post. I did search for my issue with negative results.

I have a series 2 RCA and Hughes SD Directv Tivo. I want to connect them with my wireless network.

Today I bought the Tivo wireless network adapter.

It says I need s/w version 7.1 or higher.

Okay, I did updates twice on both machines and the s/w is still 6.2.

What if anything am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

The latest software for your machine (a series 2 DirecTV Tivo) is version 6.2. DirecTV maintains the software for DirecTV Tivo's and since they stopped making these boxes 1-2 years ago, it's unlikely you'll see a new software release.

Officially, the USB ports are for 'future use' and aren't enabled. Unofficially, some clever programmers have found a way to activate the USB ports for networking. To enable the USB port and networking, you'll need to temporarily place the Tivo's hard drive inside a PC, run some special software to modify the programs on the hard drive and reinstall the hard drive in the Tivo. For more info see here Tivo Zipper (http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html) and the Tivo Underground here on the Tivo Community forum.

That Tivo Wireless adapter is useless in either case - return it for a refund! You'll need to buy a USB wired or wireless adapter supported by the Tivo Zipper, such as the Netgear
FA120, Linksys USB200M, Airlink ASOHOUSB, or Airlink AGIGAUSB

Thanks for the reply. I will do so. I was looking forward to an easy process, but as usual nothing is ever easy. I will do some research in the underground as well. I never considered hacking the box but might as well since I want to go HD in the future. Thanks again!
