View Full Version : Reboot - Should I be concerned?
My DirecTivo is about two years old and I've never had any issues with it. Last night we had a power outage in our neighborhood (don't know if that's relevant, but thought I'd mention it). Tonight, while watching a recorded show, the unit rebooted. To the best of my knowledge this is the first time there's been a spontaneous boot. Is this anything to be concerned about? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If it never happens again, then no. If it starts rebooting with increasing frequency, then you have a problem.

My T60 which I've had for over 5 years, decided to do a couple of reboots a few weeks ago. It hasn't done it since. However, since it is 5 years old I expect it may happen again. If it gets too frequent, then I'll have to replace the hard drive, as I'll never go to an R15. Well, never say never. :(
Thanks gentlemen - appreciate the prompt responses.

Pickup a UPS... it will keep the unit from rebooting during brief to 30 min power outages. It's cheap insurance.

One of my DVR's (a Philips DSR-708, which I upgraded to a 250GB HDD) has rebooted twice in a 24 hour period with no reason (only seems to this when recording). It's the first time it's done this ever. I have a very good Surge Supressor (which protects the AC Line, both Satellite Coax Connections, and the phone connection) and I don't know what caused it. The only thing that I did differently is purchase a PPV event by remote (usually I do it through the website). I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
