I just brought my Panasonic TH42PX60U plasma home this afternoon. Great deal at Tweeter.

I'm running component into the TV from my Directv HD Tivo HR10-250 at 720P. Whenever I change channels on the HD Tivo the TV pauses for a second, gives a grey full screen, and then the channel locks.

I could swear that this did not happen when I first setup the TV. Its driving me nuts. Same behavior at 1080i.

Does anyone else have this combo? Thoughts?

and I have no issues. I run HDMI though. I tired the component out and no issues as well. Did you have this issues on your old TV?

BTW. it's a sweet TV. Also the deals now on them are too sweet to pass up. Comp USA has them for $999 locally. I bought mine in May so the price was a bit more, but still at that time the best deal on a Plasma.

Call tweeter and find out. Does the OTA or cable give the same issue? Maybe it's the TV :(

OTA is passed through the HR10-250. I may try HDMI to see if that makes a difference.

The deal was nuts. $1299 at Tweeter. If you got there at 8am they gave you a $300 gift card. Then subtract the $200 rebate.

I got there at 10 of 8 and the guys at the counter knew nothing about the gift card. Luckily I brought the printout of the Tweeter web site. A couple of phone calls and they gave me the gift card no problem. Had it delivered by 1PM.

This grey screen thing is bothering me though. This did not happen on my CRT.

I figured it out. It was the color setting on the 4:3 side bars.

I pick up my TV tomorrow. What change did you make to fix the problem? Just getting prepared. :)

It was my fault. In the HR10-250 settings I changed the color of 4:3 side bars from black to grey. That had the side effect of making the screen show grey when changing from one channel to another (actually any time there was a HR10-250 screen transition).

I put the 4:3 color back to black and the screen transitions went back to black.

Great TV BTW. Make sure to update the tuner and DG board firmware to the latest versions. http://www.pasctraining.panasonic.com/SpecialApplications/ProductFirmwareDownloads/downloads1.asp You will need an SD card to do this. 128MB is fine.

Once this is done then make your screen changes. The first thing to do is to take the TV off of the VIVID setting and move it to STANDARD. My settings are below:

Picture Mode Standard
Picture +22
Brightness +8
Color -1
Tint -4
Sharpness +0
Color Temperature Warm
Enhanced Black Level Off

There are some on www.avsforum.com that recommend moving Picture and Brightness to 0 for the first 100 hours. Many of these owners run only a special break-in DVD during this time. Panasonic says this is not needed. I'm not going to bother. I bought the set to watch, not nurse. You can go to this thread for more info and make your own decision: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=657575

Good luck!
