I have a HR10-250, and except for the audio dropouts on fox HD, I like it. However, I have too many locals listed in the guide for my area.
For example, my locals in Mpls are 2, 4, 5, 9 & 11. But there are numerous subchannels; example 9, 9.1, 9.2 etc.....
I only want 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 9.1, and 11.1. I cannot find how to accomplish this via the manual. Any ideas?

Make the stations you want your favorites and then display only your favorites.

Settings, Settings, Channels, Channel List
Omit those you don't want, and they don't appear in the guide.

Settings, Settings, Channels, Channel List
Omit those you don't want, and they don't appear in the guide. This is the better way, because this:Make the stations you want your favorites and then display only your favorites.still lists all shows when you "Search by Title", even though the guide will show only those in your "Favorites".
I try for the best of both methods by first eliminating all channels in which I have NO interest from my "Channels I Receive" list; then, using "Favorites" to winnow out those I seldom watch. This lets me use the guide when I'm channel surfing, and view all shows when I scroll "Search by Title".

If I don't use favorites, I have channels I don't want to see popping up in my guide, including channels I've removed previously.

If I don't use favorites, I have channels I don't want to see popping up in my guide, including channels I've removed previously.Yeah, there are a few like that, notably some of the shopping channels, because D*TV "announces" them frequently, as though they were new. P|sses me off, too, but that's why I still use favorites for the guide. If I'm going to browse by titles, I try to remember to go through to deselect those problem channels from "channels I receive".

I tried what ThreeSoFarsBro said already ;
"Settings, Settings, Channels, Channel List
Omit those you don't want, and they don't appear in the guide. "
They still show up.

There are three levels of channels: ALL, Channels I Receive and Favorites.
You can set your guide to look at any of those three. When in the guide, hit INFO/DISPLAY and you can set up the filter.
If you take them out of Channels I Receive, they will not show up in searches, wishlists, recommendations and suggestions. You can still see them in the guide if you set the guide to ALL.
Favorites have to be in Channels I Receive to be Favorites.
Sometimes, channels reappear in the Receive list because the channel is turned off and back on. They assume you want to know about new channels this way.
Use the three settings as different levels of "favorite." You should take any channels that you don't ever watch and/or don't get out of the receive list. Another time is for duplicates. For example, I take one of the HBO-HD channels out and also any regular locals I get via satellite that I get a OTA dup on (2 versus 2-1) so searches and stuff don't get confused.

If it makes a difference, I am using the tivo guide, not the DirecTV guide.

It doesn't matter which style guide you use. Either one will only show the channels you receive if it is set to display that set.

Sometimes, channels reappear in the Receive list because the channel is turned off and back on. They assume you want to know about new channels this way.Several of them, they don't actually turn off; they just "announce" them as "new", in order to force our Tivos to put them back in our "Channels I Receive" list, to circumvent our removal of certain channels from that list, such as 227, and some of the shopping channels, and some PPV, all of which I remove from "my" channels. Grr.

I only want my unit to record HD channels, but when I use the "Channels You Recieve" page to delete the SD channels, all the channels are back the next time I go to "Channels You Receive"
I do not have the version 6 of the software.
Any ideas? Thank you very much!!!

Sometimes it helps to remove the channels you don't want 10-15 at a time.
Save, exit, then go back in and remove 10-15 more.
Also, make sure you have the guide options set to "channels I receive" for them to not show up.
