Not sure what is up with this. On my HR10-250, Grey's Anatomy recorded for half an hour then stopped. I was in the room and manually restarted anothe recording. Shark did not record at all. Checked recorded history. Grey's was scheduled from 8-9:10 and Shark at 9-10. Nothing else was schedule to record, and nothing else did. Checked history. Nothing about Grey's, and Shark says deleted: "This recoding was deleted earlier than pallned because the space was needed for another recording at 8:59 pm on Thu 11/23." Grey's was recording then, but nothing else. Shark is the #1 priority in Season Pass manager. Good thing my HR20 was recording them or the Mrs would be very upset. I use the HR10-250 on all the things I record on the HR-20 as I don't trust that machine. But the TiVo was the unit that had the problems.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Hmm very odd. I had a similar problem on my S3, Smallville recorded for 5 minutes, Greys Anatomy recorded for 25 minutes, and Shark recorded for 19 minutes. CSI and Ugly Betty recorded completely. I thought it was the S3 partial recording bug but it's odd that you are having an issue with the HR10-250.

Something is up.

I scheduled "Top Model" (nothing funnier than hot chicks crying over the "pressure"), "DayBreak" and "The Nine" on Wednesday on my 6.3a box ("Ugly Betty" recorded fine tonight). Everything else both nights, including "CSI" and "Shark", on my 3.1 box, recorded just fine.

"Top Model" recorded for 46 minutes and gave up the ghost (repeats Sunday). At 8 PM (MST) "DayBreak" (probably never a HD repeat) just did not record at all. The History says it was deleted early in favor of another program at 7:59, which is complete bull*****, because there was no other program scheduled, no "7:59" program was recorded, there is tons of space available, and "DayBreak" is set to SUID, and is the highest priority for that night. "The Nine" recorded fine later, and there was no reboot.

Not what I had in mind.

I think it's the same as this problem!

I recorded last night but have not looked. I did have an epsoide of Numbers a few weeks back, stop at 34m. I figured it was something my wife did. I will have to check out the grays/ shark when I get home.

had a similar prob on my HR10 recording ER. makde it in for about 34m and then stopped. I restarted the recording, as I just happened to be there checking it. ER recorded fine on my HDVR2.

WTF? these are getting pretty useless if they cannot record what I tell it to record.

I had a similar problem but to a greater degree. I was away last week and anything after Tuesday was like what you describe, either partially recorded or "deleted earlier than planned because the space was needed..."

I made the assumption that the HR10 filled up and then lost it's mind as to what to delete to make more disk space. It should go for the oldest programs first and leave the newest ones there. But instead it was deleting the new ones as it recorded them. It had about 30 hours of HD on it when it started this behavior. There was old stuff marked with the yellow circle and "!" that should have been blasted.

There's been other reports of 6.3a having strange behavior when the disk fills up. Hoping they fix these two major problems soon.

I was going to try a "delete and clear everything" to remove all pre-6.3a recordings to see if it behaves better. Anyone know how long that takes on a stock HR-10?

Thanks,
Tim

I haven't been following the "shortened recordings" threads, since it had not affected me yet, but you very well could be right, and this could be part of the same issue.

Now here's an interesting update:

The "Top Model" recording Tuesday that quit at 46 minutes in? I recorded the refeed last night, and it quit at exactly, you guessed it, 46 minutes in. A simultaneous "Desperate Housewives" made it to 50 minutes (I caught the rest of DH by recording the buffer, but the CW channel was already dumped).

This makes me suspect that there are certain anomalies in the actual recording at the source (the local station probably recieved and rebroadcast a feed from CW on Sunday of the same program originating from the same server as on Tuesday) that can make Tivo under 6.3 go all squirrely...anomalies that 3.1 seems to be able to sail right through. Bastids!

That sounds similar to what I have been experiencing for the last week and a half. I deleted about 5 hours of HD content and rebooted the machine. Still have the problem though. Except now when my shows mess up, they record for a partial time of 0:00. When they work, they work. Very strange.

Anyway, tech support wants me to do a "delete and clear everything". Problem is I have quite a few shows I still need to watch. So, I called them up tonight, pissed after getting a 0:00 partial recording of Prison Break for the 2nd week in a row. They are going to send me out another HD DVR so that I can set that up for recording while I finish watching my recorded shows on my HR10-250.

After I get caught up, I'll then delete and clear everything and see if that fixes the problem.
