Using TWC (formerly Adelphia) in SoCal.

I recently got a S3 and after some issues with the CCs, finally got the unit working. The only problem is cannot receive ESPN HD and KABC HD on both tuners. All the other channels work fine that I've seen so I'm wondering why those two do not work. (I do have the package for ESPN, and the strange thing is I'm able to receive ESPN2 HD and the other channels within that package.)

When I checked the signal strength for the digital channel with Tivo, it said no signal for those two channels. I have called up TWC regarding this and they have said there is no known problems with those two channels and that I should be receiving them. Because of this I have scheduled a service call to have this checked on.

When tech was installing the CCs, he checked the signal strength and said it was strong.

Would anyone have any insight as to why these two channels may not work?

Btw a minor off topic annoyance, why does TWC not support KTLA (CW) HD? Really strange since I believe they have the same parent company.

The only thing I can think of is that those channels are "Switched Digital" and current Cable Cards can't receive those. Although you would think the tech would know that, so my guess could be wrong.

I don't know why your local cable company doesn't support that particular channel (KTLA) HD, but here in Columbus Ohio our local Time Warner can't/won't carry the local ABC and FOX HD channels because they can't come to an agreement with Sinclair Broadcasting (who owns the local ABC and FOX affiliates). Sinclair wants Time Warner to pay extra for the HD versions of the channels. Time Warner doesn't pay the other local stations extra money for the HD versions and doesn't want to pay Sinclair since then the other channels will want extra money for their HD signals as well. For me that means I needed to connect an OTA antenna to my Sony SXRD HDTV (which has an ATSC tuner) to watch ABC HD and FOX HD.

When I eventually get a Tivo Series 3, the problem of not being able to record ABC HD and FOX HD should be solved since I will be able to hook up both cable and an antenna to it.

We get our local CW affliate as an HD channel over cable but I don't think I have ever seen anything in HD on that channel.

I had the same problem with one HD channel. Interesting thing swas that my setup was fine at first, but then Comcast reassigned the QAM channels. I then lost one HD channel on both tuners (local CBS so it was unencrypted). Same problem in that TIVO was seeing no channel at all. I had Comcast come out replace the cablecards, try various billing setups, no dice. Finally exchange the Series 3 through TIVO. New TIVO arrived, put in same cablecards, everything works fine.

I have a feeling that if I had done a complete erase, the original S3 might have worked. I didn't want to spend even more time waiting for Comcast techs to try it.

i had a similar problem but it was my configuration -- i had a bandpass filter that filtered out channels 75-80 but with freq harmonics it also took out some of the higher hd channels-- i had to remove the filter to get everythng.
