Here we go again. I got the H20 back in July or Aug specifically to get the A's games in HD via the RSN, only available in mpg4. When I called D* I was told my 95361 zip code WOULD be able to get these games in HD. After I got the receiver.... no HD RSN.

Today I finally call to send the receiver back, get some credits, and maybe see if I can get a free HR20(I dont really need an hr20 since at the moment it offers me nothing if I cant get the RSN in HD) I spend 20 minutes or so on the line with a very nice CSR. She puts me on hold and comes back and tells me she was told that if I wasnt getting the gmaes in HD they just werent being carried on the RSN at all????????? Wrong, i very politely inform her she is incorrect and that she was just given some bad info. She poiltely tells me she will transfer me over to someone that will jabe more information and should be able to help me more.

This person tells me that the spot beam is showing that it reaches the same viewing area that all of my locals go to. I have her notate my account as she insists I can receive the Fox Sports Bay Area using the H20. Well tonight at 7:30 pm the Sharks hockey game is being broadcast in HD and I am just waiting around for that to start. When it does not come in on the h20, im going to call back pissed off. Im sick of D* not having a clue what they offer to whom.

I feel bad for these CSRs who are dealing with people all over the country and the rules are different everywhere. After spending about 45 minutes or more on the phone once today, I am not going to be real happy he 2nd time.

Anyone else getting the RSN in HD.. say up in Sacramento or anywhere else east of the altamont?

I have the new 5 lnb dish, they installed it when they brought the h20.

And much to my surprise(much sarcasm) the Sharks game is not on channel 95 or 96 in HD as the nice D* csr assured me it would be.

Sorry but for some reason beyond my comprehension although you qualify for FSNBA you do not qualify for the HD feed unless you live in the actual Bay Area.

ETA: If you put in your zip code here (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P3000004) you will see it shows FSNBA games in SD only. Whereas if you put in my zip 95037 it says I get the Sharks, As, Giants, and Warriors in HD sometimes.

Sorry about that, it makes absolutely no sense.

My only theory, that I placed in the previous thread on this topic, is that for whatever reason, the FSNBA-HD stream is muxed together with the SF HD channels, and thus is only available to those receivers that are authorized for the SF local channels. Why they can't also include this in the Sacramento stream, or have Sacramento-authorized receivers parse this from the SF mux is beyond me, but there must be a good reason, because this is doing nothing except making people angry!

The one thing I can say without question is that is it not a matter of signal strength. Using the signal meter in the HR20, the SF transponder(s) are hitting the Sacramento area with a level of 99-100.

The csr i was transferred to swore that the HD feed would be sent to the same area that received sacramento locals. I knew that would not be the case. Now I just need to figure out what I want to do, and I also need to get my contract that they extended when I got the h20 rescinded.

Somehow they need to get this resolved........... I will be patient, but only for so long.

If you are motivated enough, you fix this yourself right now simply by "moving" to an address that is within the S.F. area. I guarantee you will get FSNBA in HD that way. You will lose your Sac local channels -- they'll be replaced by the SF locals -- but you may not care, especially if you can get them OTA (or might even prefer them).

They are doing this with ALL of the HD RSN's - CSN Chicago is a BIG problem, considering that CSNC covers SEVERAL LIL DMA's.

Because if they did that with the Sac stream, then they would NOT have room for when they add other sac HD locals, &/or D* decided to play it safe, assuming the SF spot would NOT reach ALL of the sac DMA. Again, I suspect this is the same reason for doing this with ALL RSN's.

Until the next Ka birds are launched with CONUS beams, I don't see this changing.

Not sure about the first part, because if they have room to include FSNBA-HD in the SF stream, then there would seem to be room available in the Sac stream. But, who knows how this stuff is allocated. Now your second theory might be valid -- not sure exactly how far the Sac DMA extends, but I know it goes at least as far East as Truckee (that's about 120 miles). It is entirely possible that some areas would be on the fringe of the SF spot beam.

I am receiving 99-100 on every Ka satellite that my HR20 sees, with the exception of one, on the 99 satellite, which is at 85. I'd like to know what DMA that is serving, as it would give me a better idea of how much area these cover.
